Tweety Pie

Writing is not tweeting. Tweeting is crippled, amputee thought that engages the onion of mind's outermost layers; it rarely, if ever, penetrates to the inner layers of extended, investigative, objective thought.

Tweeting's purpose is to engage others without depth. A tweet is merely an outcry.

Tweeting offers the reward of immediacy, of making a single proclamation. It bypasses the requirement of extended proof necessary to honest conversation, Depth of thought requires more time, more effort than tweeting inspires. Tweeting fits well within an inability-to-delay-satisfaction mindset; it gives a new, unkind twist to the phrase, Keep it simple, stupid.

Imagine if all tweeters had to provide extensive support for information they telegraphed.

Dishonesty can take longer form, as witness The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. But its very length is a gift -- it offers the opportunity to examine its extensive information and convincingly disprove it. That has given it an offensive smell that limits its distribution and impact; adherents to its propaganda, as a result, stand apart from the greater mass of readers.

Tweeting, in its short form, is just a cartoon of writing. It would be entertaining if it was not so full of bunkum.

But it is. And that is a disservice.
