I came across a quote from his 2021 memoir. It seems relevant to the Speaker vote marathon. He pretty clearly refers to the likes of Greene, Hawley, Gaetz, Boebert, Jordan, Gosar, Perry, et al.

What they’re really interested in is chaos … They want to throw sand in the gears of the hated federal government until it fails and they’ve finally proved that it is beyond saving. Every time they vote down a bill, they get another invitation to go on Fox News or talk radio. It’s a narcissistic — and dangerous — feedback loop.

Not a fan of his rough treatment of Obama, I was surprised by our agreement about Ted Cruz -- Lucifer in the flesh.

If Cruz is Lucifer, then the others belong with Molech, Legion, Abaddon, and Satan's other demons.

I'm hoping for an exorcism in the next election; in the meantime, I expect a circus performance, not the graceful execution of high-wire artists, but rather clown-car nonsense in the citadel of our democracy.

They couldn't take it down the first time, but they haven't given up.

We get to watch -- as for me, in disgust.
